#SummertimeFun Summertime fun includes some rail fan trips, attending some train shows, conventions or local meets. Summer can also be a time to do some upkeep around the model shop, with the installation of better lighting and general tasks that have been put off to long. I recently attended the Strasburg, PA show which was a lot of fun and enjoyed meeting new people and seeing what the dealers and manufacturers have to offer.

I am most engaged now in the project to develop the O Scale National Convention in 2020. I would encourage anyone interested at this early stage to tell us what you want in a convention, now is the time to speak up. We could also use some help from a few modelers in the St. Louis area. Clinics are a big draw so tell me what you want to learn while attending the meet.

We continue to work a several model projects in the shop. We show how a pair of high quality caboose trucks can really make the model stand out. While the temporary trucks operationally worked, they simply did not look right since they were freight trucks.

Then we go back on that tank for restoration and suggest an additional tip in cleaning the brass prior to any further soldering of detail parts on the car. Pass me the ketchup!

While the 3D Printer is hard at work, I am hard at work to complete some of these modeling projects I started earlier this year.

I also encourage you new comers to the hobby to join the O Scale Kings while the annual dues at still only $10.00. There are members across the country and you will almost always find them at the conventions.
