My prime purpose in adding a 3D Printer to my tool set is so I can fabricate tools, attachments or jigs for aiding my building models from scratch in brass. At some point when appropriate we will turn our attention to printing detail parts for various types of rolling stock and loco projects.
For this video we recommend meticulously building your printer from a kit and then carefully calibrating the machine prior to doing your first print. In addition, like every new machine, expect a break in period and an operator setup routine before printing every object. After the first 25 hours of run time I decide to go through the calibration process once again due to the fact that I could tell on the 4th print some distortion was occurring and on the fifth print the first layer while sticking to the bed it was getting hooked with a small volume of filament with the nozzle and was lifted. I notice this was the case when my initial print head adjustment was not on the money. The calibration I am talking about is the first layer calibration that may need to be slightly adjust. And low and behold it worked on the next part getting a clean print.
